Reconditioning and Purification Programs

What are the reconditioning and purification programs?

Holistic Pain Solutions offers a six-week wellness program that aims to recondition the gastrointestinal tract and promote processing of toxins. For the first month, the gut is reconditions by adding nutritional supplements and eliminating processed foods from a patient's normal diet. After the GI reconditioning protocol is complete, the patient begins the 21-Day Purification Program by Standard Process. The purification protocol adds special smoothies made out of SP Complete or SP Complete Dairy Free, and limits diet to foods that are not usual causes of sensitivities. The purification program further enhances absorption and elimination in the gut as well as promotes liver and kidney health by eliminating potential food sensitivities. After the first 10 days, protein sources are added back to the diet, and foods that commonly trigger sensitivities are gradually resumed after 21 days.

Why should I participate in RAPP?

Fill out this toxicity questionnaire to see if RAPP is right for you.

Participation in RAPP can provide the following benefits:

  • Pain relief
  • Increased absorption of nutrients
  • Bowel regularity
  • Acid reflux relief
  • Detoxification from excess hormones and heavy metals
  • Increased energy
  • Improved mental acuity
  • Enhancement of overall health

What physical changes should I expect during RAPP?

Patients most commonly experience an increase and urination and bowel movements while participating in RAPP. These changes are desirable because they allow the body to efficiently eliminate toxic load.

Some patients may experience fatigue, nausea, aches, rashes, or acne for the first few days of the purification program. The GI reconditioning protocol is recommended before beginning the purification so as to minimize the incidence of these symptoms and enhance the effect of the purification program.

Can I go out to eat while on RAPP?

Yes, although cooking yields more optimal results. If you choose to eat away from home while on RAPP, avoid processed foods. Standard Process recommends the following ideas to stay on track during the purification program:

  • Plan your strategy before you leave home.
  • When choosing a restaurant, select one that serves foods on the recommended list.
  • When traveling, bring a cooler packed with water bottles, fresh fruit, and sliced raw vegetables.
  • When attending a social gathering, bring a dish to pass that fits your stage of the program, like a fruit/veggie tray or chicken kabobs.

How do I maintain the benefits I attained during RAPP after I have completed the protocol?

The post-purification program involves gradually adding foods back into the diet, allowing at least 1 week for each food. If symptoms reappear after a food reintroduction, the food is removed from the diet and the patient is advised to continue avoiding it. Most often, avoiding processed foods and continuing a diet high in fruits, vegetables, and high quality fats and proteins will maintain all the benefits of the RAPP program indefinitely. If symptoms reoccur, patients can repeat the RAPP program at any time.

I want to continue some of the nutritional supplements I used in RAPP. How do I reorder them?

Please send an e-mail to to reorder all Standard Process and MediHerb supplements. Please specify in your message if you would like the supplements delivered to your home or if you would prefer to pick them up at your next appointment.

My housemates won't agree to participate in RAPP with me. How do I comply with the program without spending all my time in the kitchen?

The GI reconditioning does not require modification to normal diet other than the elimination of processed foods. Only nutritional supplements are added at this stage, so it is unlikely that lack of housemate participate will affect compliance.

Compliance on the purification program requires little hassle. The first two meals of the day consist of smoothies made from your choice of fruits and vegetables combined with either SP Complete or SP Complete Dairy Free. Dinners usually consist of a salad or steamed vegetables, which are typically not time or labor intensive to prepare. They often serve well as side dishes for housemates who do not wish to participate in RAPP.

How much does RAPP cost? Are there package or group rates available?

GI Reconditioning supplement packages cost $202.50. Purification supplement packages combined with menu planner and food journal cost $231 or $247 (depending on fiber selection). Purchase of 3 or more GI reconditioning or purification packages allow for a 10% discount.
